Filing a Claim

If your package or shipment is lost, damaged, or does not get delivered in a timely manner and you paid for additional insurance coverage, Shipthrifty will help you submit an insurance claim. Our claims are offered through licensed insurance producers affiliated with UPS Capital Insurance Agency, Inc., and other affiliated agencies.

How to start a claim:

Notify ShipThrifty in writing of the loss or damage by sending an email to contactus@shipthrifty.com. Notification must be submitted within 7 days of the actual delivery date along with the following details and proof of loss information:

  1. Your full name:
  2. Your phone number:
  3. Tracking number:
  4. Ship From address:
  5. Ship To address:
  6. Your address if it’s different from the Ship From address:
  7.  Gathered documentation to support your claim (Pictures, description of how your box was packed and how the items were padded)
  • Proof of value (sales receipts, statement of value, credit card statement, documents price paid/items purchased)
  • Proof of damage (photos from original packaging, damaged items, etc.)

a – Preserve all packaging, damaged goods, and seals; take photos – Do not discard packaging, including the shipping label, because damaged item(s) may be required to complete the claims process. Without these items, your claim may be denied, or payment reduced. Claims may require physical investigation. Once the paperwork is submitted, we will let you know if that is the case to coordinate.
b – Evidence to support the value of the claim (invoice, receipts, comparison price of other items of “like-kind”)
c – Repair estimate

If any additional information is needed for the claim, we will contact you by phone or email.

You can file a claim for the lesser of the repair or replacement cost of the shipment contents up to the declared value you entered on Shipthrifty.com. We will notify you once your claim is reviewed by our licensed insurance providers and whether it was approved or denied (typically within 15 days of submission). If your claim is approved, we will send payment to you via USPS.
