USPS UPDATES
Don’t Risk Being Without Boxes
Do you use USPS boxes? This year, it’s a good idea to order boxes right away! We have learned from our USPS connections that box fulfillment is taking longer than usual. Even retail postal locations are experiencing delays in getting supplies. Holiday shipping will create even more demand. Visit the USPS Postal Supply Page to place your orders today. If you ship online it’s possible you can leverage savings from the Regional Rate B box depending on your shipping destinations. Use our tools to see if they can save you. Here’s a link to order the Regional Rate B boxes if they do.
USPS Surcharges Go Into Effect this Sunday, October 18th
The U.S. Postal Service is implementing holiday surcharges for all online shipping tools for the first time in history. USPS surcharges start on October 18th and go through December 27th, 2020.
The U.S. Postal Service is increasing rates from $.24 to $1.5o. First Class Mail, Priority Mail, including Flat Rate Envelopes/Boxes and Regional Rate Boxes, will all be affected by the increase as well as the Parcel Select/Retail Ground service. Priority Mail Express will see the highest increase of $1.50 a package.
Shipthrifty’s discounted prices will automatically include the temporary rate changes and suspend them on December 28, 2020, once the U.S. Postal Service disables them. For more details, here is a link to the Shipthrifty Blog Post: 1st USPS Surcharges Affect 2020 Holiday Shipping.
Side Note – For shipments inside the U.S. the FedEx options may be less than USPS. This option is available for military bases that are not an APO, FPO, or DPO too.
